A Hint of Spring

Yes, I wore a crop top in -7°C weather. My mental processes must be baffling. That being said, the sun was shining it's brightest so how could I resist? (Also resulting in a majority of squinty-eyed photos). Instead of going with an overall bright look this morning I decided to infuse a basic/neutral outfit with small hints of Spring colour (pastel yellow satchel; a peachy orange lip). Heather grey & pastel yellow have always been one of my favourite colour combinations, especially for Spring transition looks.

This look is also chock full of super affordable pieces; the only exception being my Michael Kors ballet flats. H&M satchel & bangle, Joe Fresh printed skirt, & an old F21 crop top with lace cap sleeves (although I no longer shop at F21 for ethical reasons, I must admit I do love this little basic top; particularly for casual summer days... which today is sadly not), & vintage locket necklace. My hair was a tad messy, in pretty much the same wavy state as when I woke up, with a quick spritz of hair spray (I call it my "I'm pretending it's summer & I'm going to the beach & I don't care" hair ;)

It's hard to believe today is April 1st. I wish Mother Nature would say "Just kidding!" & make it Spring/Summer already. That being said there is something about the first of the month that always makes me feel so optimistic & refreshed. I'm about 2 week's ahead of my scheduled "To Do List", off to Nova Scotia in 3 weeks time, & looking forward to other lovely things coming my way (Prada sunnies, JC wedges, & some upcoming travels being among them). Life is pretty good :)

Hope you are all off to a wonderful beginning of April as well!
As always, thank you so much for reading <3

Work Wear

I was wearing:
Grey knit sweater - Banana Republic
White button-down - Ports International (vintage)
Gem headband - Banana Republic
Black trousers - Penney's in Dublin
Glitter ballet flats - Spring
Lipstick - NYC Pink Parkfait

Well this is about as 'plain jane' as it gets! 'This' being the outfit I wore to work yesterday. If you follow my blog you probably know that I am currently working at Banana Republic. With a target market of professionals in their 30's & 40's, we've got a pretty strict dress code; which doesn't always comprehend my personal style. I've taken on the challenge however of fitting within the guidelines while making each 'work-appropriate' outfit my own. In this particular case I've added a little glitter in the shoes & headband, as well as a pop of bright pink lipstick to make it more fun.

It was nice to wear my new grey knit, however I'm really looking forward to styling it differently; something more to my personal taste (I'm kind of stuck on pairing it with a green maxi at the moment). Alas, for now I've got 2 more days of work to go... & two more work-esque outfits to jazz up.

Happy Monday - hope you all have a great start to the week! :)

Newness & Grey Skies

Hello hello, for the second time today! I just wanted to share a few photo's of my recent purchases & what quickly became a grey rainy day here in Vancouver. Fortunately I didn't have to leave my cozy haven & avoided the ill weather entirely. I always love listening to the rain when I can take comfort in the fact that I needn't go outside. Now... picture time :)

This gorgeous grey knit is from the Banana Republic Heritage Collection. I actually saw it a couple weeks ago & had been dreaming of it. When pay day finally came along, I knew I needed to add this beautiful staple to my wardrobe! So very pleased with it :)
One of my trend obsessions this season has been velvet, but I had yet to find many workable pieces here in the city. This simple black velvet top is from the Banana Republic Holiday Collection, having just been released this past week. As with most BR products, this XS is quite a bit too big for me, but I had to get it anyways. I foresee it figuring big in my holiday wardrobe.
Another member of the BR Holiday Collection, this headband is pretty, girly, & has just the right amount of sparkle! Perfect for jazzing up a simple LBD look.
This piece you've already seen here - my blue micromesh button-down, acquired at the American Apparel Warehouse Sale on Thursday! I am so happy over this piece - it's so versatile & can work for any season.
Our poor pumpkin friend has seen better days. His teeth & eyes have been the victims of weather & neglect...I still like him though haha
Grey skies & constant rain... so fortunate not to be out in it!

So that is that! What do you all think of my new purchases? Any favourites?
