Blog Birthday / Relocation News

Hello lovelies! Yesterday marked 'Serpentine Streets' one year birthday - how exciting is that?! Although this summer has seen a small hiatus in my posting, this blog has certainly grown past any expectation I held while writing that very first introduction post. Of course none of this would have been possible without the continued support of my amazing followers and the wonderful bloggers I've met along the way - a huge heartfelt thank you to each of you!

I began blogging just after relocating to Vancouver last Autumn, and at this one year mark I have amazing news of a new relocation (I warned you I was a nomad). In exactly one week I'll be following a wonderful opportunity & moving to London. I'm currently in a constant state of exhilaration versus pure terror. So far the most daunting task has been trying to cull my closet & pack my entire life into one suitcase that weighs less than 20kg. As you can imagine it's not going so well...  (despite some good advice from Olivia of Wanderlust & Such, I can't seem to wrap my head around not bringing at least 14 pairs of shoes).

Before I leave Vancouver I do have a number of posts to cram in; most notably some great shots from FNO Vancouver & a shoot with the lovely Kristine Mackenzie (featuring a handful of her beautiful designs). If all goes accordingly, the first of the bunch will be up tomorrow so be sure to check back! :)

Seattle Photo Diary

Because I have a handful of new posts to share with you guys, I figure my best bet is to start out chronologically with a photo diary of my recent trip to Seattle. We made the trip a couple weeks ago for my 23rd birthday & had a fantastic time. We did all the touristy stuff we could possibly cram in, & ate an appalling amount of food. The trip was definitely a success & made me even more excited (if that's possible) to return to Europe & be a shameless tourist there.

Seattle's iconic Pike Place Market
Giant vegan cinnamon roll - birthday breakfast of champions
Doing my touristy thing with Pike Place Market's unofficial mascot (In retrospect this doesn't seem like a very vegan-friendly photo-op...)

The Great Wheel - Because it was my birthday, we waited in line for 50 minutes & paid an exorbitant price to ride this thing. The view was pretty spectacular, I'll give it that.

Scrumptious mushroom spinach (vegan) quiche + spicy lentil soup from Chaco Canyon Cafe
Most amazing sandwich I have ever eaten in my life... so I obviously had to photo-document it. Artichoke pate + cashew cheese topped with cucumber & sprouts on molasses wheat bread... I commend the genius who created this.
And of course it wouldn't be Seattle without the Space Needle

I was wearing:
Asymmetrical dress - Nameless (from Jennyfleur Loves)
"Paradox" Pistol boots - Steve Madden (here)
Chronograph Watch - Michael Kors (here)
Vanilla Hamilton Tote - Michael Kors (here)
Teal belt - Vintage
Sunnies - Ray Ban

My coverage of Fashion's Night Out Vancouver coming up next post so stay tuned :)

Summertime Snaps

Burrard Bridge - wearing Dolce Vita shorts (from Jennyfleur Loves boutique) + American Apparel lace tee
Steve Madden 'Outlaww' boots - love to pair them with feminine dresses!
One of many gorgeous sunny days in Vancity
My two favourite wardrobe additions this Summer! Both from Jennyfleur Loves boutique. Outfit posts to come :)
Steven 'Eternal' studded flats. So happy the pointy-toe is making a comeback :)
Fringe love.
Color Me Rad 5km run for charity - so much fun! More info here :)
Had to throw this hilarious one in for good measure ;) Aftermath of the Color Me Rad 5k run.
Vancouver's 'Celebration of Light' firework festival. Optimal viewing point conveniently located on my balcony.

After a month of blogging absence I am finally back in action! This time with a couple quick snaps from the past month. I truly can't wait to get back to my normal posting frequency, as well as catch up on all your lovely blogs :)

I wish I could say my absence was due to a month of summertime enjoyment, but in reality I've been slaving away at work. Ah well, it will all be worth it this Autumn when my long-awaited European getaway comes to fruition! In the meantime, I did have a super enjoyable mini-getaway to Seattle last weekend for my 23rd birthday. Photo diary post of that coming up next so stay tuned :)

Jennyfleur Loves Fashion Show

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending a fashion show put on by local boutique, Jennyfleur Loves. The fact that I'm only just getting around to this post is merely a testament to my insane work schedule, as I truly enjoyed the show. The Prêt-à-porter Fashion Affair was put on in collaboration with Hive Mind Millinery, styled by Nicolette Lang Andersen, & hosted by Mandy Ross.

Although my visits have been few & far between (again, blame that pesky 60 hour work week), it really is one of my favourite Vancouver shops. Mother & daughter duo hand-pick each item, which really makes this a special collection. You'll find styles & brands there which are otherwise non-existant in this city.

The show was comprised of three segments: swimwear, street wear, & evening wear. Key trends included bold colours & prints, pastels, fringe, maxi lengths & asymmetrical hemlines. A nice little bonus was the 25% shopping discount offered with ticket purchase. I'm not sure if I can still snag the discount at this point, but I fully intend to find out tomorrow on my day off!

So without further ado, here are some photos from the show:

Loved this fringe tank so much! Perfect for a beach day.

One of my favourites of the evening. Love that bold pink!

Kris of Backalleys & Boulevards, my blogger friend date for the evening!
My quickly chosen outfit for the evening. Gotta love that yellow glow.
Jennifer Gray & Shaughnessy Chow-Domos, owners of Jennyfleur Loves boutique.

Jennyfleur Loves is located at 1058 Mainland Street in Yaletown. Be sure to stop by if you're in the area; I guarantee you'll find a piece you love... or ten ;)

Canada Day in Vancouver

I hope all you Canadian readers had a fabulous Canada Day weekend! I of course was working the entire time (surprise, surprise), but displaced a couple hours sleep to visit the firework festivities at Canada Place. As silly as I sometimes feel, I love wearing holiday colours. To stay both casual & festive, I simply wore a red Zara shirt, boyfriend jeans, & my usual Michael Kors accessory trio. Here are a couple photos from the evening with Kris & Richard :)

Nothing says 'Happy Canada Day' like a giant pixelated orca ;)

The only vegan treat I could find on the premises.
The firework finale. The rest was borderline mediocre. Vancouver really needs to step it up in this department. "Hopefully instagram can make these look cool/save these" quoth Richard. Twice.
Masses of people in the streets. No wonder it took me 3x as long to walk home.

I actually have a day off work this week, so my goal is to get the last 200+ comments answered, as well as put up some new posts (including the Jennyfleur Loves... fashion show + new outfit posts). Stay tuned :)
