Vogue's Fashion's Night Out Vancouver

As promised, here are some of my photos from Vancouver's FNO runway show. I took just over 1300 photos from the evening, but for blogging purposes I've edited it down to about 30 of my favourite looks/shots. The show was MC'ed by Meena Mann & Natalie Langston (pictured just below) of FMA Entertainment Weekly, the latter of which wore a beautiful maxi dress by BCBG Max Azria. The runway show itself featured a combination of local designers and Vancouver retailers. These included Jason Matlo, French Connection, Wear Else, Daryl White (incredibly unique menswear, you can't miss it!), Marilyn's of West Vancouver,  Evan Ducharme (young designer who won FNOV design competition the previous month), & Roze Merie Cuevas (who showed two collections; Jacqueline Conoir & Jac).

A teal and mustard masterpiece by Evan Ducharme. I'd wear this in a heartbeat!
Love the deep scoop-back

All in all, it was a great evening & I was definitely impressed by the majority of runway collaborations. The post-runway retailer events left much to be desired, but hopefully by Vancouver's second annual FNO, Robson & Alberni Street will step it up a notch.

Better late than never?

The title of this post seems to be the tag line of my life. So many things have happened since my last post nearly four months ago; and although I feel a tad guilty about letting my blog fall by the wayside, I know putting all my energy into my travels & building my life here in London was worth every moment.

That being said, now seems like the perfect time to jump back into things; to attempt to unload the virtual mountain of photos & posts I've accumulated over the past few months. I'll start out with a short one - my look for Vogue's Fashion's Night Out in Vancouver in September. Definitely seems out of season as I write this on a snowy January evening on a completely different continent, but I still adore this look. The jewel-tone colour combination is probably my favourite of 2012, and the gorgeous

A somewhat rushed job on the nails, but in my favourite colour of the season - Bahama Mama by Essie
I was wearing:
Maxi skirt - Finders Keepers (from Jennyfleur Loves)
Indigo tee - Wilfred, from Aritzia
Necklace - Aldo
Chronograph Watch - Michael Kors (here)
Vanilla Hamilton Tote - Michael Kors (here)

Blog Birthday / Relocation News

Hello lovelies! Yesterday marked 'Serpentine Streets' one year birthday - how exciting is that?! Although this summer has seen a small hiatus in my posting, this blog has certainly grown past any expectation I held while writing that very first introduction post. Of course none of this would have been possible without the continued support of my amazing followers and the wonderful bloggers I've met along the way - a huge heartfelt thank you to each of you!

I began blogging just after relocating to Vancouver last Autumn, and at this one year mark I have amazing news of a new relocation (I warned you I was a nomad). In exactly one week I'll be following a wonderful opportunity & moving to London. I'm currently in a constant state of exhilaration versus pure terror. So far the most daunting task has been trying to cull my closet & pack my entire life into one suitcase that weighs less than 20kg. As you can imagine it's not going so well...  (despite some good advice from Olivia of Wanderlust & Such, I can't seem to wrap my head around not bringing at least 14 pairs of shoes).

Before I leave Vancouver I do have a number of posts to cram in; most notably some great shots from FNO Vancouver & a shoot with the lovely Kristine Mackenzie (featuring a handful of her beautiful designs). If all goes accordingly, the first of the bunch will be up tomorrow so be sure to check back! :)

Seattle Photo Diary

Because I have a handful of new posts to share with you guys, I figure my best bet is to start out chronologically with a photo diary of my recent trip to Seattle. We made the trip a couple weeks ago for my 23rd birthday & had a fantastic time. We did all the touristy stuff we could possibly cram in, & ate an appalling amount of food. The trip was definitely a success & made me even more excited (if that's possible) to return to Europe & be a shameless tourist there.

Seattle's iconic Pike Place Market
Giant vegan cinnamon roll - birthday breakfast of champions
Doing my touristy thing with Pike Place Market's unofficial mascot (In retrospect this doesn't seem like a very vegan-friendly photo-op...)

The Great Wheel - Because it was my birthday, we waited in line for 50 minutes & paid an exorbitant price to ride this thing. The view was pretty spectacular, I'll give it that.

Scrumptious mushroom spinach (vegan) quiche + spicy lentil soup from Chaco Canyon Cafe
Most amazing sandwich I have ever eaten in my life... so I obviously had to photo-document it. Artichoke pate + cashew cheese topped with cucumber & sprouts on molasses wheat bread... I commend the genius who created this.
And of course it wouldn't be Seattle without the Space Needle

I was wearing:
Asymmetrical dress - Nameless (from Jennyfleur Loves)
"Paradox" Pistol boots - Steve Madden (here)
Chronograph Watch - Michael Kors (here)
Vanilla Hamilton Tote - Michael Kors (here)
Teal belt - Vintage
Sunnies - Ray Ban

My coverage of Fashion's Night Out Vancouver coming up next post so stay tuned :)

Fringe love.
Color Me Rad 5km run for charity - so much fun! More info here :)
Had to throw this hilarious one in for good measure ;) Aftermath of the Color Me Rad 5k run.
Vancouver's 'Celebration of Light' firework festival. Optimal viewing point conveniently located on my balcony.

After a month of blogging absence I am finally back in action! This time with a couple quick snaps from the past month. I truly can't wait to get back to my normal posting frequency, as well as catch up on all your lovely blogs :)

I wish I could say my absence was due to a month of summertime enjoyment, but in reality I've been slaving away at work. Ah well, it will all be worth it this Autumn when my long-awaited European getaway comes to fruition! In the meantime, I did have a super enjoyable mini-getaway to Seattle last weekend for my 23rd birthday. Photo diary post of that coming up next so stay tuned :)
