Palm Tree Print

It's funny how your closet seems to gobble up items. You think you've nothing new to wear until you randomly see an old item in a new light. So when the rain abated this morning & I peered into my closet it wasn't accompanied by the whiney woe is me "I need new clothes" but rather "hey this might work..." It's a pretty Summery look (probably too summery for such a day, but hey a girl can dream) but I liked it & hope some of you will too!

First things first - how cute is this palm tree print? It's a piece I purchased last Summer but somehow it got lost in the depths of my closet. Now that it's resurfaced I have about 5 combinations I want to try it with. For today I was in between this navy pencil skirt & my royal blue American Apparel skirt. In the end I chose this one because it's something you haven't seen before, & also provides more contrast with the flowy printed crop top. In the accessory department I went with two pink vintage items: cute costume earrings from my grandmother, & pink belt from my Auntie. I also chose my pastel yellow satchel to compliment the pastels in the top. My nails were painted in Baby Blue by OPI, more of a leftover from yesterday than anything.

And in other news: life. is. busy. My German final exam is in less than two weeks (terrified = understatement), the job hunt is ongoing, & I'm also in the midst of making some design changes to le blog. So for the time being, just bear with me & keep the comments a-comin' :)

I was wearing:
Palm Tree crop top - H&M (2011)
Navy pencil skirt - Costa Blanca (2010)
Belt & earrings - Vintage
Yellow satchel - H&M
Foxy platforms - Jeffrey Campbell

  2. Isn't it the best feeling when you see an old item you completely forgot about, and can come up with so many different ways to wear it?
I love this outfit, and I need to head over to H&M and get the yellow satchel!

  3. That's a really cute top! I thought it was a dress at first, they go together so well! And with the belt. Very cute. I think this would be great for beach party or summer wedding. Good luck with the exam & the job hunting!

  4. Oh I know what you mean about seeing an old item in a new light! Haha, I love when that happens. Way to re-use this cute palm print top. It looks perfectly fresh and adorable for summer. Can't wait to see more uses that you get out of it. :)
And seriously, I'm obsessed with your satchel! That pale yellow shade is so pretty.

  8. Obsessed, obsessed, obsessed with this bag! I keep seeing it everywhere.
Also...I LOVE that about clothes - you forgot about an item and then once you find it again, it's like you just bought something new again! Such a great feeling.
I don't want to say I live for that feeling, but it might be true.

  12. You are so cuuuute, Shawna! I love the picture of you lifting up your hair, which made me think that you should wear it up sometime. Not that I have any issues with your wearing your hair down; this picture just made me wonder if I'd ever seen you with it picked up like this. You look gorg' no matter what! :)
I do love that palm tree print and the way you paired that amazing vintage belt and pastel yellow satchel with it! Just lovely.
