Sunny Vancouver

Vancouver in the sunshine is a completely different world. Not just from the bitterly windy other coast, but the rainy city itself in mid February. Since my arrival the weather has been undeniably gorgeous. What I remember as a quiet city on a wet Monday morning has seemingly increased tenfold in population. Fighting the jet-lag we went for a stroll along the Seawall yesterday to soak up some Vitamin D. My skin is a pretty ghostly shade of white, but even already my freckles are starting to burst through. So many people were out tanning on the beach & in the park. I can't wait to take a picnic & a book to put in an afternoon there myself.

As always on a sunny day, I wanted as much colour as possible. The base of my outfit was one of my all-time favourite vintage pieces - my striped Adrienne Vittadini skirt. I paired it with a mint crop top from American Apparel, atop a white bandeau, & accessorized with my pastel yellow satchel, gold/white bangle & sandals, & a hand-made necklace (black braided with pastel baubles). Classic Ray Ban wayfarers to top it off. Simple look for a Summery day :)

Playing With Print

Print blocking has been on my mind quite a bit lately (largely due to Miss Pandora & Man Repeller) & so today I decided to play with it a little. This vintage Mr. Jax animal print midi skirt was given to me by my Aunt about 8 years ago & I love it to pieces. I paired it with my striped Topshop tee which has a large bow detail on the shoulder, allowing for simplicity in other accessories (just left it at some rosette stud earrings & my Michael Kors ballet flats really).  When heading out to run some errands I just popped on my new black faux fur jacket (sadly not pictured here), for some added texture & warmth. Simple but fun; definitely something I'm going to play around with more... next time incorporating some more layering. What do you lovelies think? Yay or nay to the print blocking?

I'm headed out for the night, to attend a 'farewell party' for one of my friends. Hope you all have a lovely weekend! <3

Just me & all my plain jane glory

As promised, here is my first look of 2012!

First things first - I love this outfit to pieces; even in spite of second inspection flaws like the forgotten hair elastic on my wrist, my hair in all it's natural frizzy glory, & the fact that my shirt is much bigger on me than I initially thought. Those pesky details aside, I'm pretty delighted. I've always been a fan of green & blue combinations & am so pleased with this new top. The pleated blue palazzo pants were acquired from ASOS last summer, but this is only the second time I've worn them. From the pure fun factor I got out of these yesterday you can be sure to see them again at some point! As for the fact that I'm wearing a t-shirt in January - that is the beauty of 'winter' in Vancouver :)

Oh and last but not least, the post title is in reference to the song that't been stuck in my head all week - take a listen!

I was wearing:
Striped scuba top - Banana Republic
Pleated Palazzo pants - ASOS
Collar Necklace - Forever 21
Vanilla Hamilton purse - Michael Kors
Gold Chronograph watch - Michael Kors
Nude suede Foxy platform - Jeffrey Campbell
Military-style coat - Zara

New In // Sneak Peek

A new year calls for something new, even if it's a small something! And so with a gleeful smile, I picked up this striped top after work yesterday. It's my favourite piece from the new Banana Republic collection which was released a few days ago. The thick material has the perfect amount of stretch, & combined with the front seaming reminds me a little of a scuba top. I also love the zipper detail on the back :)

Luckily we were able to get an outfit shoot in before the rain began. I'm really pleased with how the photos turned out & can't wait to share my first look of 2012 with you! Let's just say palazzo pants are involved. Stay tuned ;)

LOOKBOOK: Pacific Time

Here is my look from yesterday as posted on Lookbook.nu - Hope you all have a lovely Saturday! <3

Pacific Time

After an incredibly productive morning, I headed to the beach to enjoy some gorgeous sunshine!

Despite some minor lighting difficulties, we managed to get a little photo shoot in :) I opted for a couple new pieces: a new Sparkle & Fade striped sweater ($5 Urban Outfitters sale; score) & a pair of beyond bright lime green high-waisted shorts which I discovered at Retro Rock Vintage. Paired with navy tights, metallic glitter flats, and gold accessories. Obviously a little bit of a nautical vibe...

Sun in my eyes!

Loving the fact that I can see 'home' from the beach! :)

And my shoes are full of sand...

Gold rings galore + my favourite pendant necklace (which incorporates a little more green & pleases the part of me that loves things 'matchy matchy')

I was wearing:
Striped sweater - Sparkle & Fade, Urban Outfitters
Lime high-waisted shorts  - vintage, Retro Rock
Metallic glitter flats - Spring
Leaf necklace - Girly Peepshow Boutique (old)
