Canada Day in Vancouver

I hope all you Canadian readers had a fabulous Canada Day weekend! I of course was working the entire time (surprise, surprise), but displaced a couple hours sleep to visit the firework festivities at Canada Place. As silly as I sometimes feel, I love wearing holiday colours. To stay both casual & festive, I simply wore a red Zara shirt, boyfriend jeans, & my usual Michael Kors accessory trio. Here are a couple photos from the evening with Kris & Richard :)

The firework finale. The rest was borderline mediocre. Vancouver really needs to step it up in this department. "Hopefully instagram can make these look cool/save these" quoth Richard. Twice.

Masses of people in the streets. No wonder it took me 3x as long to walk home.

I actually have a day off work this week, so my goal is to get the last 200+ comments answered, as well as put up some new posts (including the Jennyfleur Loves... fashion show + new outfit posts). Stay tuned :) 

Animal Print A-line

I'll admit to you, I've worn this outfit twice now. Something about it makes me feel very Roman Holiday-esque. It's simple, pretty, & perfect for an evening meal out. The skirt is one of my treasured vintage pieces (you've seen it paired with stripes here), & the vintage bag I've been favouring quite a lot recently. The bold animal print works well with heather grey & I like the added element of lace cap sleeves. Classic Ray Ban wayfarer; Michael Kors ballet flats for comfort, et voila! 


Also - you can expect some changes to the blog over the next couple of weeks. I'm finally getting around to some long-overdue design tweaking, as well as creating a Facebook page for the blog. I'll be sure to share more info when it all happens :)

Be Mine Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day lovelies! And cheers to all things cheesy & cute (typical post title included). Unfortunately I have to work this evening, but I'm trying to make the best of my morning with a little 10AM cookie baking & some Valentine's Day-themed blog reading ;)

When I went to my closet to find a Valentine's Day outfit I was amazed at the sheer amount of red, pink, peach, & burgundy it contained. Seriously... clothes, bags, shoes, hats, accessories... the whole nine yards. What made me choose this particular outfit is the simplicity & the dress itself. It's a member of the 'occasion dresses' section of my closet, so today felt like the perfect time to show it off. The structure details on this dress are what made me fall in love in the first place - the peter pan collar, the exposed back, & the cute pleats. I paired it with polka dot tights for a little playful fun, a girly gold bow chain bracelet, & my Jeffrey Campbell Foxy platforms in nude suede. I painted my finger nails for the first time in a long time... possibly years... & felt like a 5 year old sneaking her mothers makeup & making a complete mess of it. Ah well, candy-floss pink for the win. 

A note on photo location: it was raining; the ugly balcony backdrop long ago exhausted itself; & so the next best thing was bed. The place from which I eat my breakfast, read my blogs, & indeed, am writing this now. Not sure if you've ever tried to take outfit photos in bed, but it proved somewhat difficult for me this time around. Practice makes perfect?

Today

Just a tad aggravated with Lookbook this morning - I posted a look and deleted it about 2 seconds later simply so I could change the title (silly me apparently...) and it appears that lookbook has implemented a 6 hour wait period between look posts - seriously? I understand the reasoning (so people can't keep reposting for more hype obviously) but arghhhhhhh.... 


Apart from that - it's a lovely sunshiney morning here in Vancouver and I just happen to have a day off work :) Going to meet up with the girls this afternoon hopefully, and maybe a little pumpkin carving this evening! Maybe even a little photoshoot in between, fingers crossed :)


In the meantime, here are some photo's taken on Saturday (in what was a super quick shoot as my darling photographer was sick with a cold). It's a super simple outfit, as I was just on my way to the store to pick up some popsicles and treats for said cold. It was a chilly day out and this incredibly soft and bright cashmere sweater was the perfect piece to start with! 

This one makes me laugh as I look like I've only got one leg; but alas, it was the only one which showed the back!
