Mint Punch

Mint & burgundy & faux fur make for an interesting mix. This is what I wore on my extremely casual day off yesterday. I didn't intend for a 'look of the day' shoot to ensue, but I thought I'd show you these anyhow. I was in the exact mood for mint & somehow this is the outfit that grew out of that. The burgundy cropped sweater is my go-to item for a lazy day, or one spent studying in a cozy spot. The faux fur was a definite necessity as it was, grudgingly, freezing outside. I've got a million & one summer outfits planned already... now if only the weather would cooperate!

Outfits aside, life has been more than a little crazy lately. Big changes are in the air, some of which I'll share with you very soon. I've been asked if they're 'good' changes. The ever-positive side of me likes to think that all changes are good ones, no matter type of situation they arise from. As a result though, I'm a little behind on responding to comments & keeping up with the numerous blogs I follow. Hopefully you'll all bear with me, because your support & feedback is what keeps this blog going & me smiling!

Faux Fur vest - Zara
Burgundy cropped sweater - Urban Outfitters

December 1, 2011

Welcome December!

A new month, a new look, & several new additions to my wardrobe :)

I was wearing:
Amber feather vest - Club Monaco
Black long-sleeve bodysuit - American Apparel
Burgundy trousers - Zara
Multi-strand necklace - Forever 21
Nude suede foxy platforms - Jeffrey Campbell

These photos for my latest 'Look of the Day' didn't come out at all how I'd hoped, but I can't help but love this outfit & all these pieces to bits! The trousers, bodysuit, & vest are my newest closet acquisitions.

If you follow me on Twitter, you may know something of the ordeal it's been trying to get this stunning feather vest (with silk lining) from Club Monaco. After selling out, days in replenishment boxes, & wrong sizes I finally got it last night! Perma-smile, seriously. I really have to say another huge thank you to the wonderful girls at Club Monaco on Robson who graciously put up with my numerous phone calls & questions over this one. It's such a unique statement piece, but I have so many great outfit ideas planned for it! I know it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I really do love it :) The Zara trousers on the other hand I'm a little peeved with, having not stretched at all as I was assured they would. Still, they are a beautiful colour & I still have some hope on the stretch... And the bodysuit of course is a wonderful staple. I own the short-sleeve version in several colours, but this one is perfect for the colder seasons.

Other than new items my life seems to be work work work! I'll be working quite frequently up until my Christmas holidays, so I was quite glad to get this outfit shoot in before work this morning. Are any of you similarly busy with work or school? I think the fact that Christmas is coming up makes it seem even busier than usual! On which note, I can't believe how soon Christmas is! I'm such a holiday person & am terrifically excited haha :) Admittedly I've been watching Christmas movies & listening to xmas tunes every spare moment I get.

Now then - I'm off to bed for the evening! Wishing you all a lovely & festive month <3

LOOK OF THE DAY: You know so well

Finally, my first look of the day post! Shot by the wonderfully obliging Matt Walker, these photos were taken earlier this morning in between rain showers.

Winter green & burgundy are quickly becoming my most favoured colour combination this Autumn & I was excited to pair this fun vintage hat with one of my older, well-worn batwing tops. The white blouse was a great find from a local vintage shop (Retro Rock); which in itself is a complete treasure trove. It's in top-notch quality & I see it becoming one of my go-to pieces this season. Pants, comfy beyond belief; & shiny new oxfords which arrived at my door yesterday. I wear my shoes out at a frightening pace, so it's always good to have several cheaper, albeit cute, pairs on hand :)

I was wearing:
Burgundy felt hat - vintage
Ports International white blouse - vintage, Retro Rock
Winter green batwing top - Asos (old)
Wilfred grey trousers - Aritzia (old)
Black oxfords - Forever 21
