Cold Comfort // New In

Despite my power-of-vegan-health-claims, the cold front here has finally given me a comeuppance. So for the time being, I'm stuck in bed, between endless packs of kleenex & literary diversions.

There are several things brightening my day however; so I thought I'd share them with you! The primary one was the arrival of my first c/o item from OASAP.com - a lovely vibrant batwing top. To my delight it is the perfect shade of orange for Spring. As soon as my cold passes I'll be sure to put up an outfit post including it. I've shown it above with my H&M bangle which is no longer MIA (it was in one of my jewellery boxes all along, silly me); & hung below, to give you an idea of it's general shape.

Delicious vegan zucchini brownies a la Mom.

An eclectic pile of bedside books to keep me entertained + The Devil Wears Prada; one of my favourite 'sick day' movies.

Last but not least, Zen providing kitty company.

I'd love to pass the entire day browsing blogs & responding to comments, but we unfortunately only have dial-up at home & it takes an average 40 minutes to read & respond to a single blog post (positively medieval I know). As soon as I'm able to leave the house I'll be back to my usual commenting frenzy, promise!

What are your sick day comforts?

They build buildings so tall these days

Sometimes it's so easy to get caught up in the hustle & bustle of everyday life. The past few days of non-stop work, & (shameful) neglect of proper sleep/nutrition have left me exhausted & a little out of it. Thankfully my work is wonderfully understanding & I was able to go home sick from work today.

What ensued was some much-needed wholesome food (delicious delicacies from Gorilla Food raw vegan cafe), some fresh air on a beautiful day, & some well-appointed laughter from seeing the latest Muppets movie. We also quickly popped into the quaintest used bookstore I've ever seen, MacLeod's (on the corner of Richards & West Pender). The very definition of organized chaos, this place is my idea of heaven - books floor to ceiling; shelves upon shelves; random stacks higher than me, just threatening to topple at any given moment…. delightful!

Now I'm home & happily preparing for bed before 9pm. Thank goodness for the littlest things that make you feel so much better.

I was wearing:
Military-style jacket - Zara
Peach cropped sweater - Vintage
Navy velvet skirt - American Apparel (new)
Lace-up oxfords - F21
Earmuffs - Burberry
Bag - H&M

It feels so good to finally get a new post in, however fashion-less it may seem. I've got some lovely new things to show you over the next few days & am also looking forward to getting in several outfit photoshoots - stay tuned :)

And then the rain came

1. Watching the rain on our balcony + sneak peek of outfit photoshoot to be posted tomorrow.
2. Noel Nog - delicious Christmasy goodness a la vegan
3. New books arrived in mail - yay!
4. My lovely new silk scarf from Banana Republic (today's acquisition)

I sleepily went off to work this morning at 5:30 AM, quelled by the prospect of sunshine & after-work adventures. Unfortunately by the time I reached home at 1 PM the rain began & hasn't stopped since. So it turned into a quiet day at home, gloating over my newest item (the gorgeous gem-printed silk scarf seen above), enjoying far too much Noel Nog, & just relaxing. It was actually quite nice, however I am hoping for some productivity & pleasant weather tomorrow morning!

We also managed to get in a quick photoshoot before the sun went down. Albeit a dusky set of photos, they'll be posted tomorrow here & on lookbook so stay tuned :)

Thank you for reading! <3
