No I was not attending an event. In fact I had no destination in mind at all when I threw on this Summery tea-party-esque look this morning. Isn't that why we have blogs in the first place? To get away with wearing whatever we want? It's much more feminine than most of the outfits I've been wearing lately but I think switching things up is nice for a change.
I bought this peach chiffon dress from American Apparel for a wedding last Spring. At the same time I purchased this lace bodysuit so as to the layer the two sheer top portions. For a pop of colour I added turquoise socks scrunched down a tad, & my newest JC wedges. The socks-in-shoes made a significant improvement comfort-wise so I thankfully escaped today without any war-wounds. It was a cool day once again, so I topped things off with my military green Spring jacket (pictured here with & without).
Now, I have two (rather random) inquiries for you:
1. Spray-on tan, yay or nay? The above photos are a key example of how ghostly pale I am. Normally I don't mind, but with Summer & short-season approaching it makes me somewhat self-conscious. And I think tanned skin definitely goes better with this seasons key pastels/neons. What do you think?
2. This one is for my Deutschophile readers: I need some suggestions for good German films to help me practice for my upcoming German final. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
As always, thanks for reading :)
I was wearing:
ahh I love it! It's so quirky! :)
ReplyDeleteoh wow!! I love the dress! :) I like peach color.. this is very chic! x
ReplyDeleteThe Beautiful Mind
I love the colors in this outfit, Shawna! The socks are super cute and a nice finishing touch.
ReplyDelete"Isn't that why we have blogs in the first place? To get away with wearing whatever we want?" Hahaha, Yes, to answer the questions. It's so funny because when I'm wearing something really random and perhaps too overboard, I think to myself, "I have a blog, this is like a fashion-experiment, and totally acceptable." I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks like this. :)
And as far as your paleness. I'm a pasty cake, too, so this is probably my biased opinion, but I think you look perfect the way you are. I also don't like "fake baking" or spray tans, personally. Mainly because all the people I know that have done fake tanning go crazy with it and end up looking maroon or orange (oompa loompa-esque). I guess as long as that doesn't happen to you then go for it, if that's what you want! But I really do stand by my statement of you looking absolutely lovely just the way you are :)
Ooh love this gorgeous dress, haha and yes, that's of course the reason why we have fashion blogs! I love the mint socks you added with the wedges, they're so fun and add that perfect touch of "pow" to your outfit! :)
ReplyDeleteHmm, and I'd say don't do the spray tan...you look good the way you are. Don't be self conscious about it! I'd be worried it might go awry and that'd be bad :/

I love this! Especially the socks with those shoes! Such a cute combination!
ReplyDeleteTo answer your questions:
1. While I hate the orange look of an all over spray tan, I am super pale, and I hate my ghostly white legs. So I compromise. I spray tan at home (Neutrogena and Banana Boat both make great continuous spray self tanner, that's key), but only my legs. I feel like my arms, face, etc. don't really need it. I do a light spray once or twice a week during the summer. It's not enough to look orange, it just takes the edge off of my paleness. I highly recommend that route!
2. "Run, Lola, Run!" Of course. :)
this dress is darling...and i love the pop of turquoise
ReplyDeleteHahaha I agree so much with what you said about why we have fashion blogs in the first place! Sometimes I have outfits planned in my head that I really want to wear but don't really have anywhere to wear it too.. then I remember I have a blog :D It's like playing dress up for teenagers!! Your dress is so cute, I love the color!

I love the colors you chose & the shoes you're wearing- amazing! As for the spray tan question, I totally think a person's natural skin tone is best. I've seen way too many people abuse the spray tan. And I mean, even if a person uses it sparingly, it still just doesn't feel completely right...your natural skin is just perfect. But, of course it's up to you! :)
ReplyDeleteomg i love this outfit! you look amazxing, love your style!

Mix & Match
Being a fellow fair-skinned woman, I am trying to just accept myself for what I am! I am pale. My heritage is all from Europe (German, French, Irish) which means I have a reason for being pale. I think being pale is beautiful! I feel a little awkward the first few times I wear shorts in the summer but then I just get over it and get on to loving myself for who I am!
ReplyDeleteSo basically, I vote NAY on the spray tan. Us pale beauties need to fight back against all this must-be-tan-to-be-pretty nonsense.
Love the color combo in this look! ;D

No spray tan for me. I got one a few years ago and it started to streak as it faded because I didn't apply enough lotion. I embrace my fair skin these days.
ReplyDeleteOh your dress is absolutely gorgeous and I love the added colour with the socks. Personally I've never fake tanned because I'd be worried about it going wrong, but if you really wanted to do it I'd suggest just looking up on the internet good brands :) xx
